Yesterday, March 7, 2008, Maine state troopers were sent to investigate a routine disappearance. Reports of strange sounds coming from within an abandoned asylum lead them to the site of Augusta Mental Health Institute, where several joggers reported seeing the man in question enter the asylum. The investigators had almost abandoned the search at the asylum when they discovered the man, or what was left of him, in the basement. His body was mutilated almost beyond recognition, with parts of him scattered across the large basement. There was about an inch of blood( much more than the body itself should have provided ) covering the floor, and there were piles of bones in the corners of the room. The largest body part found was the head, floating in the middle of the room, next to a single lit candle and a camcorder. The camcorder was a small one and after examining the film contained thereon, it was determined that the man had it hidden in a coat pocket, filming what had happened to himself.

At the beginning of the film, the man gave a short introduction to the camera, describing his quest to gain some secret, seemingly evil object from a “holder” within the asylum. The man was then shown putting the camera in his pocket and approaching the asylum. When he reached the huge, chained-shut doors, he pulled out a pair of bolt cutters and quickly gained entrance. The rest of the video is still under investigation as to what actually happened. The video showed him entering the building and being confronted by a man in a suit at the front desk. The sound of screams and crying can be heard faintly on the video at this point, though the building has been abandoned for over a hundred years. The man approached the clerk and can be heard muttering some indecipherable words to him, at which point the clerk gives the man a furtive look and begins leading the man to a locked door behind the desk. When they are through the door, utter blackness is beyond it, and the screaming and crying sounds multiply a hundred-fold.

A candle suddenly appears, lit, in the clerk's hand as he leads the man silently over what appears to be a rickety wooden bridge, nothing of the sort existing within the building. At random intervals, strange mists pass the candlelight and loud shouts can be heard on the recording. After walking for about 5 minutes, the clerk suddenly stops and the camera jerks to a halt. Just before the candle-light diminishes, the face of the clerk, wiped completely off- revealing skull and bloody eye sockets and a tongue is clearly visible. Also visible is a large group of misty objects approaching the camera, accompanied by a growing din of shrieks and screams. At this point the camera turns around and the man in question begins screaming maniacally, running towards the still-open door he had come through. The door then slams shut, seemingly by itself, and the sound of shouts becomes overbearing. At this point, the unidentified shouting, yelping and crying mixed with the man's screams of pain blend together and not much can be gathered of what happened afterwards, other than what the investigators discovered. The remainder of the tape consists of a liquid sloshing sound and distant chanting in some unidentified language.
