Awesome looking programs, just wish i actually knew how to use them, I am going to DL a few and check them out, maybe, just maybe, if i didn't spend so much time on here and looking for pics to add to here, i might actually learn some of this stuff....OH, and maybe if i had something besides F***in Dial-up, it would be alot easier to utilize some of these programs, or at least DL them, anyways Great Thread 5 star!! I saw the winamp post and since I'm having trouble with tearing in MediaPlayer I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately I'm getting the same thing with Winamp (lines through screen and videos showing in quarters, not sync'd.) I thought it might be a codec problem but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Any suggestions?

Threadkiller, well, yeah. I'm kinda looking at that. The video card is pretty new but it has the ATI chipset and, I didn't know at the time, that chipset tends to cause problems sometime. Now since everything seemed fine when I put the card in (I had not tried to run videos) I'm kinda thinkin I need to go chasing after new or updated drivers.

Try installing this codec pack http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE_Mega_CoDecS_Pack.htm if that does not work, then try here http://www.whatboyswant.com/forum_topics/18

@ arch009 - links to sites that have illegal codes or cracks for commercial software is NOT allowed here on WBW. This thread is for strictly OPENSOURCE software. Not on how to make commercial software 'free'

Startup Delayer
When Windows loads it's Startup file, it attempts to load every program in there at the same time.
If each program tries to do this at the same time, you soon notice the slow down that occurs, due to your CPU trying to help all the programs to load, and your hard disk accessing multiple files.
This program lets you delay each program that loads.

Hey people, try the following site:

www.giveawayoftheday.com

Each day, they have a program that costs around $20 for free. And it rotates every 24 hours. If you go to the main page and look on the upper-right corner, you will see this site:

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/

Same as the other site, except for games. Enjoy!

Ahhh since Gaim was mentioned there is also Trillian which pretty much does the same and has a free as well as a Pro version. I can personally vouch for Trillian as I use it on a daily basis.

Easy Cleaner
This is a small program which searches the Windows registry for entries that are pointing nowhere. EasyCleaner also lets you delete all kinds of unnecessary files such as temps and backups. You can search for duplicate files and you can view some interesting info about your disk space usage! You are also able to manage startup programs, invalid shortcuts and add/remove software list.
This is in my opinion one af the best "Vitamin-Pills" you can hand your pc, i ran it on a slover computer, and i felt a drastic speed increase...
