Rating System

So I'm fairly new here, been checking things out for a while and just started posting and what not recently. I was wondering if somebody could explain to me the rating system. I see I got away from my newbie status pretty quickly. What actions earn what points and what rating level accompanies those points? Thanks for your help guys... and girls!
