as for your question - if you are using your search function and viewing threads that are a lot older, sometimes the people that users are hotlinking from take down the pictures from the site which makes the hotlinks no good. or maybe they catch on that we're stealing a ton of bandwidth with all the people viewing the pics that are being hotlinked, so the site will block hotlinking. could be a number of possibilities, but its always the OTHER site that is the problem when you see a red x, not us.
