Which nation produces best cars?

Speaking of average everyday passengercars :

If I could get a car with the driveability of a Peugeot, the reliability of a Toyota, the front seats and safety of a Volvo and the overall build quality and refinement of an Audi I could finally be happy with my personal transport.

It's impossible to name one country or region as the ultimate car maker.

As for sports cars, I would have to say British or Italian. Tough choice between those two, actually. Then again, when operating with a restricted budget you probably get more car for your money by buying a Porche than from anything produced in either of the forementioned countries. Seems like this one is going to go unresolved as well...

Tis' sad that Britain make some of the best cars in the world but no longer own the Companies. Even TVR has been bought out My answer is GB and Germany.

I must say its Germany! BMW; Mercedes; VW! Noone cant beat the germans in buliding cars!

only ones I would buy: US.

For all its faults -- planned absolescence (Sp?) and other crimes against taste and good breeding -- introduce the Ford Pinto Wagon, Chevy Chevette, most anything built by Dodge -- Detroit built some of the most memorable, horse power driven -- affordable cars in history. Detroit horse power fueled the pinache and unique style that made cars fun for the working man. Now cars are too technical, too sterile, and too damn expensive. I remember when cars were simpe; a 1/2 socket set, and a ball pean hammer could fix most problems. I still remember pealing out with rear wheel drive in a 66 Mustang -- an awsome feeling at any time. Nope -- Detroit buit the best cars -- not the most well built, certainly not the most efficient -- but damn it -- they were fun!

I'd have to say Finland... most reliable Porches ever

For family sedans? Americans have it... I wouldn't plant myself in any 4-door but a Ford Taurus SHO (any gen, my fav for "fun" value is the Gen II). They're referred to by some as the "American BMW"
sports cars? for production, I give up my props to the Viper. It's Diamler Chrysler, but assembled I believe, in Atlanta GA... If I'm wrong on that, I'm sure you'll tell me. lol
Limited production? Again, gotta go with usa and Ford's GT-40 *DREAM MACHINE* droooooool
And SUV.... Toss up between Caddy and Lincoln.
-For classic muscle? USA and mopar.
I'm looking for someplace where the europeans lead in my humble opinion....so.... how about leader in "cuteness?"
The Cooper Mini would get it.

And...who mentioned HUMMER?! Oh, boy..... it's a GMC Envoy (suspension, frame, etc.) with more rugged styling. Cool name and AWESOME looking, yes... but not as hardcore as most people think.

Germany hands down, Japan is 2nd best

as the proud Owner of 2 current BMW's - I must say the best cars are designed and built in Germany.
