lol...Serves people right for buying Toyotas.
Lexus I'll forgive..but my god Toyotas are ugly cars.
Also, loltotalrecall.
I've owned four Toyotas in my life...in the 70's and 80's...two Celicas and two Cressidas...No complaints about them. However, I haven't thought much of Toyota as a brand for a long time...I didn't care for their styling, and I thought they were overpriced...'never could quite accept the Camry as the greatest car on the planet, and the Prius is deliberately awkward and weird looking to set it apart from everything else on the road...it's a self-advertisement...
I think Toyota was a bit slow to react to this whole mess, and it has gotten blown 'way out of proportion, but I think there could be some permanent damage to their image, especially in America. Some of the confidence in the brand is gone, and may not recovered - ever. Even with the short memory that most Americans have, this may stick to the marque for awhile...of course, Honda, Nissan, Mazda and others, like VW and Hyundai, will all benefit from this blow to Toyota...I know I wouldn't even consider buying a Toyota now ...but then I was not inclined to consider them even before the recent recalls and uproar over sticking accelerators and sluggish brakes (Prius) ...
I like some of the Lexus models, although they are even more pricey and over-pricey than their less perfect siblings, the Toyotas...Maybe it was time for another brand to be on top of the heap for awhile...Honda has been a candidate and a contender for a long time, and my impression of Honda has actually always been better than that of Toyota ... I am very fond of the Nissans, and some of the Mazdas, too...
every car has its issues, and i still dont get why people want more $$ for toyota's and honda's used. ive seen people with a 1989 honda civic, with 400000kms on it!! and they want 4000$ or a 1994 toyota for $10000
it serves them right, maybe it will make people realize they are not made of solid platinum.
