HEY Guys,

I have a 88 GMC Jimmy and I've lost my Reverse in it. It will go into drive but it takes awhile for it to actually get going. Does anyone have an idea what it could be?. I've been debateing on whether or not to rebuild it or put a new one in..If anyone has any answers I'd appreciate it..Thanks

I am going to ask a stupid question have you checked the Dipstick for the proper transmission level.

It sounds very much like what happens when there is not enough fluid. Also are there any trans oil leaks.

if you can get a good tranny from a junkyard, then i would replace it, if you have time to tear it apart, it could be several simple problems, but it will probably put you truck out of commission for a few days, as you can swap trannys in an afternoon, good luck.

Usually it is a bad valve body servo piston seal/spring. Next 1st gear will go. Tine for a rebuild. Junkyard parts are in the junk yard for a reason. Don't trust them.

guys thanks for your answers.I know I probably should have spelled out transmission but figured that being in the auto section I thought that you all would have known what I meant..Oh well.. But I do say thanks for some of you that responded to me..I'll probably just have it all replaced..and yes junk parts work pretty good.. have a few parts on my truck and they've worked better then some of the new ones..

could be your spidergears, but its probably not your diff cause every gear would lock out, so you've either popped a connecting joint or you've fucked you're gearing completely, better off with another 700r or a t350
