Subwoofer price question

Hello everyone!

I have recently been looking for a subwoofer for my car. A friend of my friend has a brand new LEGACY LPW1099 10'' 1000 Watt Predator Series sub that he said he'll sell to me for $42. Is this a good price? I don't know too much about car audio, but this sounded like a good price to me

how much u looking to spend and what kind sound are u looking for?

Well i don't have too much $$ and that seemed pretty cheap. as for what kind of sound, the best bang for my buck i guess.

Thats too cheap man, i guess your from the usa, but look for the big names, sometimes you can pick up good deals on 12inch subs in boxes!
I have an infinity white 12inch sub and an alpine v12 amp, and it kicks ass!

Edit, its second hand, thats not too bad, but listen too it first make sure the coil hasnt blown!

I'm pretty sure you're not going to get 1000W from it. Subwoofer isn't the most important part in your car audio system, put more money to a good 3-way set.

Totally agree, no point having a loud sub, but you cant here the components!!
Sub is only there to enhance the music (obviously the lower frequencies!)

I would suggest a sealed box for a more solid sound... I really don't like ported sub boxes, unless you only listen to hip hop. then ported might work for you.
