I am going to start racing this old car I have but I need an idea of how much it will cost to get all windows, windscreens and other glass taken out of the car?
Also how much does a rollcage cost?

learn your car before you race it. try to do as much of the work your self. save the money.
a cage will cost as much as $2500
your glass shoud not be to much but I dont know where you are so I have no clue...

what kind of car and is it worth racing?
not trying to put you down at all just asking..
oh if you build your own cage here is the break down.
tube bender $900
1 3/4 DOM about $2.75 per foot. I used 160 feet.
tig welder not a ach is what you need. mine was $2500
you can also use 1 1/2 DOM to but depends on how much room you have in your car.
and the price of tube is going up everyday...

I have a 1991 model Toyota Camry but I am looking for something a bit older and cheaper to race. The camry is still in really really good condition and I would rather not race it. I have found a couple of old, cheap cars in the local paper that I am looking at but haven't bought anything yet.

Not sure what kind of racing you're doing, but I doubt you couldn't do anything to that car to make it competitive. Stick to the race classifieds to find something a lot more ready-to-race.

These guys are right though, you should know as much about your car as possbile by doing the work. You don't need to know how to build your own cage, but you should definitely know how to work on the engine and brakes and so on. You'll be doing plenty of that on any track day or race weekend.

79-93 fox body Mustangs,Capri,Cougars...cheap, can get lots of aftermarket parts, easy V-8 conversion...might even get lucky and get one with a 8.8 rear-end

Where are you from? I race an 87 Honda Prelude. The cage was about $700 installed.

I'm from Queenslad, Australia.

The racing I want to do is nothing serious - just something to do of a Saturday afternoon.

The track is dirt.

your definatly looking to spend over 2500 if you pay for some one to do it, do it your self and just pay for materials. and a good roll cage if some one made it out of 4130 chromoly thats tig welded can cost up to 9000, of coarse this roll cage also is use to stiffen the crap out of the car.

I drift a 89 nissan 240sx with an sr swap that i did last year...and road race alot at night....you really dont need a roll cage in your car unless the event calls for it.When i go to drift events i never need a roll cage unless im going to tandem drift(2 cars at once)....check out my site WWW.CTDRIFTING.COM..if you look in the car gallery..under nissan 240sx..the white car is mine..the one that used to be red...
