Ok everyone, heres the question of the day. What kind of boost system would YOU get?? I have a Nissan 350Z and am planning on getting the GREDDY twin turbo kit. I've read alot of different article on all kinds of systems, but I think Im gonna stick to my guns and get the twins. Tell me what you would get and why....

id say do the twin turbo.
the single turbo with big boost will give u heaps of lag and shitty every driving which u ownt want to deal with. the twin turbo u can have the same pressure but half the spool up time which will give you greater drivability
i wouldnt consider the supercharger for the 350, it wouldnt really suit the engine type and u can gte a much more tested and tried turbo system

Turbos now a days dont have turbo lag, especially when your putting the exhaust from 6 cylinders through them. If you do do a single turbo with big boost you will blow the shit out of your motor if you keep the internals stock. Nissans vq motor is an amazing motor but with too much boost it will blow up. Twin turbo kits are expensive and a pain in the ass to install. If this is a daily driver I would go with the supercharger or the twin turbo kit. The good thing about the twin turbo kit is it does not creat the under hood temps that a supercharger would. If it was my car I would put a supercharger on it, but the Greddy twin turbo kit is an awesome kit. Good Luck

Both turbo AND supercharger. See Volkswagen TSI. Supercharger passes the power from lower revs, and turbo steps to blow on higher revs. That if you have lots of money to develop. Definitely not a supercharger, the power loss is bigger compared to turbo. So I'd say twin-turbo.

And btw, I really hope you'd write a picture-diary about your project here. I'd love to see the development.

Bullshit. My WRX STi definitely has turbo lag. If you haven't driven a 300hp car, it would be difficult to notice but once you get used to it you can definitely feel the lag. The smaller the turbo, the less lag you get which is why some people got for twin turbos. I've seen a 350Z with a twin turbo kit installed, not sure if it was a Greddy or not. In any event, it looks like a huge pain in the butt to install and my guess is that it complicates routine maintenance afterwards. So... the supercharger is probably the way to go. No lag and hopefully it doesn't clutter the engine bay as much as the twin turbo setup I've seen.

I voted twin turbo. I have a 72 Datsun 240Z with a 3.1 liter stroker NA running in the 12s. It weighs just under 2500 lbs without me in it and puts down 305 at the wheels. I kill most cars I run into but a 350Z with Greddy twin turbos is 3400+ lbs and putting down 500+ ponies with the lag of a T25. I may take it off the line with quick throttle response, but I know full well that I will see that cars tailights before I hit the end of a 1/4 mile track.

I've beat 350Zs with superchargers and BIG turbos are for dyno queens...

Get a supercharger, and then if you want more horses, get a turbo or two, or 4. Super first, then Turbo.

That because you WRX has a crappy factory turbo, and is 2.0 liters compared to 3. I have driven 400 hp sr20 240's with the same displacement as your WRX that had no turbo lag.

i say go with twins me and a friend put the twin kit on his 350z and got great power but i would be sure to build the motor its not great for boost..they make pistons that drop right in the stock cyl same bore size and get some rods and a good fmu and u should be set

i would probably go for twin turbo. one small and one big.
it would be nice to have real big power, however you have to think about practicality.
dont get drawn into a piss fight on the thread about "my sr20 has no lag".
where i live, its pointless having a car with big power, as theres nowhere to put it, let alone get it down.

heres a clip from top gear, which may sway your vote. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5x4W2OhzwY4
its bmw m6 v 911 v aston martin. the 911 down on power beat them all.
sure enough had it been a straight drag it probably would of lost, but since when was driving all about straight roads?

hope this helps!

I've driven both, get the twins, a nicer setup. They are cooler (located down low) quicker spool out of 2 turbos, and a nicer powerband for daily driving.

Let's cut to the basics. Any turbo needs enough pressure and fumes to work. Let's face it, the amount they need isn't done in 1000-2000 rpm's. So hell yeah there is a lag. That's why they invented the supercharger+turbo combination. Supercharger basically has no lag, after it has spinned the car on a good roll, the turbo steps in place.

With a little common sense, bigger displacement gives a better start compared to smaller one. It's basically naturally aspired 2.0 liter engine before the turbo kicks in, but if you have 3.0 liter engine, the lag feels smaller cos it has more plain power. But you're right, more money to use, it's possible to build a system which works better than any default set.

twins are a waste of time and money .....if you want all time power supercharge(but its going to add around 60-70 hp) if you go turbo.. later on you can change set ups(but it cost more and more moving parts MEANS more problems) ITS A CAR BLOW THE SHIT OUTTA OF IT ...I hate seeing people dump large amounts of money and CLAIM they are street racers or drifters FUCKING SHUT UP AND PROVE IT.....ether way quit asking a bunch of dude that just got done beatting thier meat and get it done.......i love seeing a 3K- car destory 50K+ cars MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING..hahha and all those "tuners" if you have never ported your own head then your a poser!

Twin if they are sequential. Only supercharge on high displacement. Why waste crank power on a 4banger.

I voted twin because that's what my car came with.

And that's all I have to say about that.
