I was fortunate enough to get my first bike last week. It's a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. I can't wait to get out and ride it.

Not to shabby... I still cant wait for the day I get my first bike really. Ive wanted a crotch rocket for the the longest. A simple Honda CBR 600-RR. But more and more I see a bike of my buddys, slowly start to tend to lean that way of a cruiser.
Here is his Honda Shadow Sabre that I have fallin in love with for a cruiser.
Enjoi yourself out there and be safe. ^_^

nice looking bike... my first street bike was a cbr 900rr... it was a nice bike, but there are too many people that don't pay attention when they drive...

Out of curiosity...once you've gotten the hang of riding it, let me know what kind of 0-60 times you're pulling.
I've heard they're fairly powerful bikes.

That's not a Shadow, that's a Honda VTX. Not sure if it's the 1300 or 1800 version. My uncle has the VTX 1800. Holy crap. What a fast bike for a v-twin cruiser. So much torque.
My first bike was a Honda Ascott VT-500. Then I got a 1985 Kawasaki LTD 1100 (still have it, and looking to sell, BTW. It's in awesome shape too.) I'm a cruiser guy now. I have a 1994 Honda Shadow 1100. Cool and comfortable. Not nearly as quick as the Kawasaki. Those in-line fours are bad to the bone. As I approach middle age (40), I don't need to hit 80 - 85 mph in 2nd gear.

Yeah, I've heard those Kawi's are quick --- to be honest, I'm a little nervous about getting on mine. Should have gotten a 750 or 800, but I couldn't pass up the deal on this. Everyone is warning me about how powerful this thing is.

Where on earth is less than 400cc not considered a bike ? The trailer park ???
Our group rides everthing from Honda 160's to Ducati 1198's. Obviously we ride at hugely different speeds when we are out of the city, but some of the most knowlegable owners and very best riders I've known ride small bikes.
Neither skill nor coolness have anything to do with displacement.
Think about it.

To answer your question 888spo
Smaller bikes dont handle long distance and speed as well as bigger motorcycles....... My statement that anything smaller than a 400cc is not considered a motorcycle is purely the accepted norm in our biking communities and is not a rule in general.

OK....I was somewhat put off by the often snobbish term "our biking communities". Never know who pretends to be speaking for whom. Better that you have communicated it by saying "touring" or such. That said, my favorite riding is taking the longest, fastest and twistiest route to my end destination. Or....a four hundred mile ride vs. two hundred for the proverbial crow's flight to the same place.

Like the ones that ride their bikes into extended tow truck cables?
