OK, I want one of the above, for my childhood dream years..my question is, should i buy the frame (old car that fits the chassis) and build one, or go Ebay style (and not know what was built)..the bottom line is price, I want to be under 10K USD

That's a tough one...

I just bought a 64 1/2 Mustang off ebay that needs a lot of work, but that's what I got it for...
I've always loved mustangs and I've always wanted to rebuild one.

I would ask yourself how much time you wanna spend on it, because that's the big question. The more you spend up front, the less work you'll need to do, and the sooner you'll be driving it. That just makes sense...

As for which car, I'd go after the KITT car... It's just the slickest one, and not as common... I don't really like the Bandit's car..

You gotta go all out, though... Interior and everything!! Hell yeah!

Yeah, I am leaning towards KITT aw well, but the Ebay completed KITT cars are selling for near 20-30 thousand....The best deal by far on EBAY is the Starsky & Hutch Gran Torino , there are 3 on auction right now, 2 of them for under 8 K..

I can't believe you'd want to own a car from a tv show.

well to each his own.

I've always loved the bandit's TA and the dukes Charger..

early mid 80's firebirds were junk.

seriously after looking at that pic again the Kitt Ta is making me

Yeah, you got me curious, so I looked around at KITT cars...
There's some SERIOUS cash involved if you do the full modification... All the electronics alone look a little scary.. I think, for ease and convenience, I'd go with the Starsky car... I withdraw my last suggestion on the basis of not being rich!!
A basic restoration, and a paint job.. Much easier!!

The only TV show car I want is this...

I say go for KITT if you can find one in your price range.

I'd skip the Kitt TA. The 80's cars just don't have style to me. I've always loved chargers but you might want to go with a 68 instead of the DofH 69, it will probably be cheaper and the body style isn't that different. I friend from work has been looking for a 77 TA but can't find a cheap one that doesn't need a ton of work.

I'm with Ascaris on this one. I had a 68 Charger with a 383. My first car. A little top heavy in the turns but fun.

You will have a much easier restoration job on the Charger. I'd go with that. Also, that Firebird wasn't the best car ever made.

OK, I am getting the feedback I really wanted, I know the KITT car electronics are going to be a nightmare, but MarksCustomKitts here in Florida specializes in completed interiors (and cars for that mattter)..but price becomes an issue..based on all my searches and comparisons, the Starsky Torino is by far the cheapest, and still turns heads, and here in So FLA it is cool to turn heads, and I can't quite yet afford my 2007 Ferrari..
