How do you increase the idle speed in a feul injected gasoline engine? The engine in question is a 1995 Pontiac Trans Sport mini van. 3.8 litre V6. It tends to stall when going downhill, more or less coasting. The idle is now around 500 rpm. I believe the stalling is due to an idle speed that's too low.

hey rainbow, there's an easy way to adjust it up. and ya 500 rpm is a little slow for idling. im using the FI 302 in my mercury as a reference so i might be a little off. take a look at the FI unit where the air hose attaches from the air box, see if you can find a small round adjustment, probably on the bottom of where the hose attaches. you'll most likely need a flathead screwdriver to turn it, and simply turn it slightly til it idles higher. its a good temperary fix but taking to an expert probably won't be a waste of time. i hope this helps you.
