I've got a problem: I should buy a decent reliable car that doesn't attract cops because I don't have a license. It shoulod cost around 1000 €. Any suggestions?

Nothing personal but it's fucking stupid to drive without a licence!!!
put the € 1.000,-- into lessons and exams.... then buy a car!

Well... I've taken enough lessons. I will eventually get my license BACK, but it will take time...

1000 €
Hmm.. Volvo 740 or Saab 9000?
Reliable cars and cheap to fix if they go rikki
You can get a pretty good shaped 740 -88 -90 for about 600 €
Its a nice car overall, not the beauty queen but
or are you looking for something newer?

Dagon:
Those are the ones I thought of. Pretty conservative cars, not the first ones to get stopped by the police.
However, just yesterday I went to see a Saab 9000 and it's turbo charger was pretty much dead. Not a cheap thing to fix, I guess. Well, have to keep looking for a Swede in decent condition.

Just had to learn the hard way that no matter how sober you feel the day after, the measurement equipment of the police may disagree.

yes very conservative and cheap to fix.
Have you thought of getting a Volvo 740 TIC?
With the Turbo intercooler you can drive smoothly
Saab's older turbos never work, they are Air Cooled and they break down after 2000 km's, and that is a fact. You need to get a Saab 9000 -90 or newer to get one with the new turbo, and if the turbo has been changed then it is a good car. But in my opinion, Volvo is a MUCH more reliable car than Saab. I'd search for a 740 TIC

I see... in Holland you should be without a licence at least 3 months (depends on how much you drunk...) and get a record for 10 years!!!
But about the € 1.000,-- car:
How about Volkswagen Golf II? Cheap and very good! Or a Peugeot 205/106?

Well, in Finland it's 6 months at least. I had 0,22 mg of alcohol in one litre of exhaled air. 0,21 mg would have been legal. But the real question in Finland is how soon do you get to court. It can take 9 months before you get a date for your trial, and then the court decides that you should have had your license back, like, four months ago.

A friend of mine had 0,7 mg, he got a ticket from € 400,--, lost his licence for 3 months and a record for 10 years, I dunno when you go to court here.... (at least with alcohol)

In sweden it's the same, you loose youre license and get heavy fee's if you have over 0.21 If you have 0.5 or over you almost automatically go to jail for atleast 6 months.
in my city there has been cases when people have had 3.0 or 4.0, that is WASTED.

No but On Topic again for a while.
über, check out the Volvo 740TIC.
A golf is decent too but parts can get quite expensive.
Depending on what it is.
Volvo, nemas problemas, parts can be found everywhere

yeah but they are known to be reliable cars
And the fact that Finland is so close to sweden spare parts are so cheap.
I think swedish prisons are a very dark and scary place...

A Saab 9000 for 1000 euro? How old must that Saab be to cost so little? 10 years?

About Gameck.
But if you've read the whole thread we aint looking for a pimpmobile, just something to cruise around with and not be noticed
you can get a decent Saab 9000 2,3 T -90 and older for about 1000€ plus some minus some.

I know, I was serious about that question because I love Saabs, and I was shocked that you can get so much for so little. That's great news, since we're in the EU, we can buy cars in other EU countries and we don't have have to pay any taxes for buying older cars in foreign countries

Yeah, if you go Car hunting in south of sweden you can get a very good car for little Money. Me myslef is a Major fan of the CS Modell, Aero of course.
Today I'm driving a Saab 9000 2,3 Turbo Talladega it's a -89 but I simply love it.
Turbo is changed and chipped to around 220hp.
For the condition it's in i can get about 4000 € for it
