Looks like it has potential.
A '77 Monte is one of my all time faves.

Gonna nick name her "midnight gambler"
looks like a nice project.. the wheels would be the first thing to go for me..
it's always good to have a track nearby so you can see what she'll do...

here's the 350 motor & trans.. story goes a guy with a 60's era El Camino had this motor & trans PROFESSIONALLY done. He installed it & promptly gave himself dirty underwear, sold it to a dude I know where it's just sitting there... lol specs to come in a few days.... asking price $1000.00
You get'er done, I'd be tempted to drive over east side and take a look'C
that's cars for you... you can never have enough money...
if you got the tire under her to handle the motor, and the right rear you may get down to the 10-11 sec area. My fathers 72 deville with factory 472 hits the high 13s low 14s and those things are about 5800lbs where as that Monte is only about 3400 pounds maybe a tad more. built 350 with a 750 double pump and good cams and crank should give you somewhere between 300-350 horse possible a little more depending on pistons, intake and exhaust ports in heads, and flow through the intake manifold itself which is a lot more then she had in 85 which was around 180 so yeah stiffen the body up. And for God's sake get rid of those ridiculous clown wheels, if you can get the stock wheels for the SS package they were some nice looking wheels or American Racing's Vintage wheels also look great on that body style.
I would put some where between 3:63 and 3:89 in the rear of the car so you got a car that is fairly decent in the 1/4 and still be a decent day driver.
