What was the first vehicle you owned or used to learned to drive? What was your first vehicle new or used? Was it given to you as a gift or did you bust your butt working and saving up for it?

Talk about your sweet dreams or nightmares. Let us see them if you have pictures or can snag some from the web.

I learned to drive in a 1955 Chevy Bel Air. It was Two-Toned Tan. I read some where long ago that white was the number one color choice.

I wish it had been black or red, my favorite car colors. My dad was always going to modify it but never got around to doing it.

My first car was a 1989 Plymouth Horizon it was wrecked so me and my Dad kinda fixed it . The hood was held shut by a piece of nylon rope and I decked it out with beaded seat cushions and 5 star off set rims! I was the shit so I thought The pic is of a nice version of what I had Oh yeah I think this pic is a Dodge Omni but they are basically the same. You would be surprised at the amount of little trashy chicks that I picked up with my little pimp wagon

A 1979 Pontiac Sunbird... such an utter piece of crap... it got to where I had to use a coat hanger to keep the battery from sliding everywhere.

Sounds like good times and bad.

Thanks for your replies!

The first car I bought was a 1951 Ford. A friend had worked on it with loving care. He wanted to sell it so he could buy another one to fix-up. Goody for me! It was painted metallic blue. Three on the tree and a suicide knob to boot. This isn’t it but a close facsimile.

First (learned to drive in) - Nissan Pulsar (dont remember what year) - bought and given to me by my parents - complete peice of shit but it had a manual trans and T-tops. Picture is the exact year/color mine was....

Second - 1988 Honda Prelude - bought by myself with parents help - Nice car but didn't last very long, trans went out and just didnt have enough to fix it. Looked like the pic, but black with sunroof....

Third - 1989 Chevy S-10 - Bought myself - Great little truck, lasted a long while (until I got tired of it and got something else). Difference between mine and the pic is mine was red with a thick silver strip going down each side....

Forth - 1991 Chevy S-10 Blazer - Bought myself - Another good one that lasted a while, bought it and gave the above mentioned vehicle to my parents. I ended up selling it to my brother because I didnt have the money to rebuild the motor. Mine was the same color as below but mine had stock wheels and was lower....

Fifth - 1989 Chevy Celebrity - Bought myself - Not a bad car, lasted a good while but then the front end locked up and so I had to get rid of it. Mine was white with hub caps....

Sixth - 1992 Chevy Cavalier Wagon - Bought from an uncle - HATED THIS CAR but we needed something to get around with and he sold it to me for $300. Mine was white with different wheels....

Seventh (current) - 1997 Honda Passport - Currently paying for it - Love it...... it rides great, air conditioning works, body is in really good shape, 4x4.
Mine looks exactly like the pic but with different wheels....

I tried to find smaller pictures but those were the smallest/closest I could find.

My "learn to drive" car was a 1959 Chevy Impala like this redhead.

My first new car was a 1970 Chevy Nova. It had a 6-cyl and was pretty peppy but it wasn't the SS with a badass V8.
The gas tank was behind the license plate and gas dripped out. People were always stopping me and waving me down to tell me the gas tank had a hole in it.
I sold it because of that.

Nice post! Got me laughing real hard. Mine outlasted a marriage too, its a VW and it is still sitting in my garage in full running condition. I'm thinking of getting a car insurance , it's going to be an antique soon!

First car was a 94 Merc Topaz. The largest POS besides a Chevy Citation, which I also drove. Do not have one yet, but I am kinda liking the new R/T Challenger with the Hemi.

The first car I owned (well, I was 17, so I had to put it in my dad's name) was a '65 Mustang coupe - 289 4-barrel/4 speed. I wound up selling it for peanuts when it needed a valve job and have been kicking myself for roughly 40 years since

The most fun to drive (and least reliable) was my '70 MGB-GT - good car for a kid who's willing to spend every Saturday morning tuning it (up the twin SU semi-sidedraft carbs were a nightmare to keep in sync), but the glamour eventually wears off. Still, with the crisp, short-throw transmission it had the Best Shifter Ever!

I really liked my '69 Barracuda - not one of the really hot ones but there was just something about that car I always loved ...

Overall, though, I can easily say that the one I got the most enjoyment from over its lifetime was my '87 Celica GTS coupe (my first brand-new car). It had the 2 liter high-revving engine they used before they made them more civilized and a 5-speed, and I drove it hard for 165,000 miles with nary a problem. Truly a great car, traded in on a station-wagon for kid hauling

I know what you mean about MG's. I had a Midget. No one told me about weekly tuning those damn SU carbs. Fortunately I knew a guy that loved to tinker with engines.
