I recently bought a 2001 jetta 1.8t and wanted to open in up a bit.
i installed a cold air intake, but fear that the filter may get soak
with rain water. any way to insure that it wont?

there should be a valve that stops this from happening.. check near the intake manifold.

wouldnt trust it on a small car like that...as long as your not hitting any big puddles you should be fine though man

you're fine,...Just stay away from puddles and real heavy rain, also if you dont want to have to worry about it at all then go and purchase a rain valve for the intake. All it is is a piece of foam to be fitted in the middle of the intake that acts as a different hole for air to be sucked into incase the main one gets block (i.e. submerged in a puddle)

if you look there are some cold air intake that come with water lock protection the decreases the chances of you sucking in water to your engine. they cost a little more but my friend has it on his eclipse and its lowered really low to the ground. drives it in the rain all the time and never has had a problem.
