omg the superbird isnt fast at all. it was just practically banned by nascar b/c there was nothing that could keep up with it and was killing the sport. learn ur *#$& before you talk it
LT1pnyklr 21 years ago
Bushmasta you need to learn your shit dickwad. It ran 0-60 in the high 5's and 14.3 in the 1/4. That isnt that fast for 390hp. Nascar racecars run alot faster than that dicklips. Learn your shit.
LT1pnyklr 21 years ago
And Metalux, you to can eat shit. I never said my Camaro was the fastest or the best car in my country. I just said the Superbird was a pos.

You're kind of a dumbass aren't you? In the early 70's a 12.0 street car was pretty damn fast and Top Fuel dragsters were running in the 7's. Also you can't really compare net and gross horsepower figures that's not an apples to apples comparison. Also the factories over and underated horsepower figures back then and still do it today.

I do belive, if that Richard Petty drove one, it was adequate for NASCAR.
Become a student of history, and appreciate it.

Joe Dirt, you are right. 12.0's in the 1/4 was fast then and still respectable now. But the Superbird didnt run those times did it? Nope, sure didnt. 12's and 14's are completely different. Stay on the subject ass!
joe_dirt 21 years ago
SuperBirds didn't run 14's with the optional engine. Nobody bought a `Bird for the 1/4 anyways, a regular Road Runner weighed a lot less and was quicker.

Mopar dominated stock car racing in the day of the SuperBird, and that gets my respect. Also, Mopar (ie Dodge/Plymouth) built the toughest looking, heavy as fuck, in your face,, muscle cars from 1968 to 1973 bar none. The days of the big body V8 rear wheels drive monsters are gone now, but they can live on thru the movies of today (Fast and Furious) and television of yesterday (Dukes of Hazard). All I know is when my son is born in 5 more months I will teach him his first word....HEMI...

Dude Mopar didn't do crap to the 70' Chevellee SS with a 454 they got smoked for 2 years straight. I am not saying Mopar sucks because they don't but they are not the shit they are equal to Chevy's. But better then fords.
N.W.O. 21 years ago
Stupid argument. The Superbird is muscle. The red Camaro isn't. And 454 Chevelles never raced in NASCAR. And the Hemi Darts and Cudas have absolutely dominated the ZL1 Camaros in NHRA SuperStock drag racing for 35 years. And thats a fact.
ReLaTiVeAsHeR 21 years ago
I'm not talking about NASCAR its stupid to go in a circle then again so it straight but still. Nascar isn't at all street legal plus its stupid.
N.W.O. 21 years ago
Well then the 67-69 Camaro especially the 69 427 ZL1 has a lot more drag racing history and performance potential than a Chevelle look in the NHRA Record books not a whole lot of Chevelles but lots of Camaros and Vettes in Super Stock.
