Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone could give me some info. I have a 98 Nissan Altima GXE. The drivers side window will go down but it won't go back up. They are power windows. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hmmmmm.....I assume that this only happened once.

Did the window make a grinding sound when it went down ?

Was the car hit ?

Anything else not working, power mirrors, antennae, etc ?

These would be important things to know. Check the obvious first. See if you have blown a fuse. Often, the power windows and mirrors, etc. are on the same fuse. Even if it does not look blown, replace it. This is assuming that no grinding was heard, etc.

You may need a new motor.

Letme be more specific. Could it either be the regulator or the window motor. I hear nothing when I try to put the window up. When I put the window down I can hear the motor. I hope this helps anyone who would be interested in helping me. Thanks.

probably just pulling it up manually (before it goes all the way down in the door). i had this same problem, it's the motor.

had a couple thunderbirds worked on back in the late 80's and i noticed something.the door frames do not go around the window and when the owners would shut them they would grab the door by the glass instead of the door metal.this would cause the right angle gear drive to wear prematurely causeing the window to go down but not up.i don't know about your model but they were able to break apart the window motor and replace just those gear sets.ps please keep us updated with all your info.

I can't put the window up. So I put some garbage bags over the opening. Probably end up going to a junk yard or something. The garbage bags are high class in my book. The bags are white and the car is black. Nice touch huh?
