The front looks very like the new Astra GTC- anyone else think so?
Could this be a precursor of the new Astra coupe??

Yep- that's what I was getting at! As far as I know alot of Chevy's during the 90's had similar floorplans/body styles to Opels/Vauxhalls/Holdens, albeit without the engines - whether the Chevy's were based on them or them on the Chevy's is another story though!

the chevy is based on that one...i mean i know i said holden "makes" them here, but really...thy dont..
they import them from Opel and change the badges here, you can tell when you open the hood and the engine
says Opel on top

I thought you guys had bigger powerplants in the cars over there though? I thought some of the Holden engines were aussie built Chevy small block V8 designs, unless I'm mistaken.. Opel Astras over this way start with a X14XE engine(1.4L) and then up to the 2Litre- thought the Holdens started with the X16XE(1.6litre)... or am I thinking about the HSV models

the holden HSV's are AUSSIE MADE mate!!...the astra and barina and any other small car are not made in OZ
theyre sold by them, but basically made by some other GM company around the world..all the Aussie made cars are big, even the Mitsubishi Magnas..3.3 litre V6 engines (not big really, but for a Jap family car..it is) all the fords and holden family cars start at 3.8 for the holden and 3.9 for fords..up to
5.7 litres for both (i think) Holden sells from 1.4 to 5.7..

and there is your lesson...fuck im typing alot tonight..

probably because the monaro is the pontiac gto.

I really like the direction GM is heading... I feel they are finally doing somthing right after 20 yrs of very few desirable cars.

Well all i was saying is that the older model Chevys looked a whole lot better than what they have come out with in the past few years, but you know thats my opinion. Im not saying that i wouldnt own or drive one i just think that Chevy could come up with something better.
