I read this earlier off of a link on Fark. As bizarre as it sounds this _has_ happened to other animals including humans. It just depends if there is the right amount of moisture, gases, pressure, and surface elasticity.

I'd hate to be one of the people out on the street at that time, or have my car out there. That would be a bummer, but it would lead to interesting conversations when you drove home with blood all over the car.
