A lot of things Watty. You just need to find the right applications. Mac OS X has an equivalent for everything Windows does.

I've got enough apples in my fruit bowl, and that's the best place to keep them

Well this is the only site that I have problems with. I don't know why, I use Unicode UTF-8. Maybe I should switch to Western Text Encoding.

Western (Mac OS Roman) Encoding.
Or maybe the server doesn't like KHTML based browsers lol.

But seriously, I did look at Macs, however they
a) are more expensive and
b) do not the same range of available software, particularly specialist stuff

Capt I don't see how you can say that. We have equivalents for everything PCs have. We have over 10,000 native applications plus tons of Linux/BSD ports that run perfectly.
Watty 21 years ago
From what I read, if its specialist software youre after then macs are the way to go... Hence why Im looking at buying one.

Hmmm - well, I couldn't find the flight data analysis application I needed at the time, and if you go into the shops for general software there's always a greater choice on the shelves for Windows.

Sure PCs have a larger variety, but how many really crappy spreadsheet programs do you need? The only thing PCs have on Macs are the games. Not enough developers know how to take full advantage of the PowerPC architecture.
