www subdomain

why is the "www" subdomain of whatboyswant its own "instance" of the site? what smart guy set it up that way? after 20 years of working as a CTO and building huge webapp setups i cant explain to myself the advantage of the mentioned whatboyswant setup. please enlighten me!

2 different sessions ids, 2 different cookies, heck - sometimes even 2 different set of top-babes
