I beg to differ, Fefe. I know a lot more than you give me credit for. You'd be surprised at how similar my role in every day life is to yours here, and I think you'd be surprised at how familiar I am with this site despite my low post count and recent join date.

I'm aware of how awesome this crew is - most of the time. Latino made my avatar on my first day here, for no reason other than to be cool. I think it was my second post on the site to ask for one, and I hadn't upped anything yet.

I do sympathize with the Crew, and I do appreciate the things they do. By the same token, I appreciate all the posts and pictures, help and contributions of a demi-god too. Yet they get treated like trash sometimes.

The Crew is (by and large) awesome! But they're not perfect. The people bitching in the WTG category are also (by and large) awesome, but they're not perfect. It's not fair - nor is it realistic or productive - to ask one group to change behaviors while insisting that the other group doesn't need to.

The simple fact of the matter is that leadership sets the example. It's a fact, not a myth. It's also true that if one wants a behavior, they have to show that behavior themselves.

That's not me being shitty; that's reality.

So what do you really want? And do you want it badly enough to take a look at yourselves to get it?

If so, I believe progress can be made. If not... Close the thread.

Us mods are allowed to be harsher than most, we have to....this job demands it. Ask any crewbie what their first week or so is like...its hell, from members and mods.

FUCK YES I know why it makes you mad! It misrepresents us all, and sometimes we catch good people in the frenzy to feed on the fucktards. And I get mad about that too - even when... ESPECIALLY when I'm the one that fucked up and did it.

And to be honest... It's hit n miss with me. Sometimes I think it's okay, others not. I admit that Sails is one of the harsher. But he's also funny as shit, and fun as fuck. If a newbie gets into an argument they're just as likely to think he's really cool and keep fucking around with him until they make each other laugh as get pissed. Fuck... look at Tickles and me. You don't have to be meaner. Hell, you can just lock a thread and walk away. Take out a pic from the queue and never say a word. Just tell someone, "Don't flame others." and leave it at that. But you don't... You're human just like the rest of us. Once in a while, we like to go off.

I don't for a moment buy that "We have to be meaner" shit. You do have to be sticklers on the rules more than other people, but that doesn't mean you have to be meaner, and I think we both know it. any way we go about it, someone is angry...and it usually is at the mod. So how can we not get angry ourselves?

as much as i stand up for members and mods rights, i think the one thing that is irritating is when theyve decided theyre OWED those things no matter what.

So here's what it boils down to as far as I can see:

I love this site and the community it has here. I think this is the best group of folks I've ever seen work together by and large. I think that of all the communities I've ever been part of (and that's a lot), this one is the "most-ut." The members here are light-hearted, good-spirited, intelligent and kind. They're rough around the edges, just like me. The mods get 'er done and they have a high degree of "if it ain't burnin' down, it doesn't really need my hose." It's a great crowd!

So it bugs me when there's a fight like this over stupid shit. It shouldn't be happenin'. We're all here for the same reasons. How the fuck did some newbie leech manage to get a demigod and the crew into a fight? How did I manage to get myself into the middle of it?

Here's a secret (since I suck at keeping those anyway it appears)... I like it that we're dicks to each other sometimes. I enjoy it! I like it when Sails goes off on a newb. I laugh when Fefe tells him to go fuck himself.

Yeah, I'm going to Hell. So are most of you ::waves::

It's fun for me. I don't want Sails to stop being a prick, and I don't want Fefe to suddenly turn cuddly.

I LIKE IT THIS WAY! I like this site and community THE WAY IT IS!

I don't want things to change. But if they need to, let's do it so that the change was worth making.

Otherwise, I find that about every few months a nice bitch session like this thread works dandy to help vent. I think the way we're doing it works just fine as it is. Maybe that's just me though.

So:

1) leave it as is, and every few months we bitch and moan about it for a day or so.

2) Change the way we interact, and mayhaps set up a post requirement.

3) Ban Tarquin and Sails. However, the bear comes with us because he has the beer.

I vote for 1. Ain't opposed to 2. I know you won't give up the beer so 3 is off the table.
