By reading the different option my first thought was: What is so European about Russia? But then I saw German together with Russian in the same brackets and I got lost. With all respect but from my point of view this is a serious offense and all German users and those who know about the variety of german food should boycott wbw!

German food is not only about sausages - altough it already offers so much to talk about. An even bigger veriety you will find in bread and bakery, even beer I would consider german food (well, for some it might be the only food - 'nother topic). If you will get the chance to visit good old germany there is so much to explore in the kitchens from the coast of North and Baltic sea up to the high mountains of Bavaria! ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany#Cuisine just to get an impression) Don't worry we have also McD and KFC in case you don't like the stuff

(btw: Asian food? Those who have been in Asia will know that it is not only about noodles and rice. South Koreans would feel uncomfortable in the kitchens of Myanmar or Thailand. Already India and China are so diverse in there tradition that it is a shame to put them all together as 'Asia'!)

Poor selection!

Thank you for your attention.

Yeah, boycott WBW because there wasn't 195 separate options.

240+ options when you include the fact that the fifty states in the US don't all eat only New York style pizza and drink Budweiser beer.

In fact, there should have been several hundred, if not thousand, options as Bavaria, Hamburg, Saxony, and the 14 or so other states in Germany, and the 8 Federal Districts (or ~40 Oblasts) of Russia, and the 20 some odd provinces in China, and every other division of every other country in the world are included in the poll.

Also, Russia is a European nation. It represents 40% of the European continent. And ~80% of the Russian population lives within that continent.

Why don't you complain about the inclusion of Mexican and Spanish food together?
Why don't you complain about the lack of a Caribbean option? At least you're represented in the poll.

Obviously the poll was created within certain restrictions of format. And the options included represent most of the traditionally accepted divisions of culinary influence from around the world.

German food isn't exported wholesale as Italian, "Asian," French, or "American" is. Outside of specialty cafes you won't find a German restaurant outside of places with strong German immigrant population. Russian restaurants aren't located on every street corner either. Therefore, German and Russian culinary trends aren't a major global influence, as Italian or French are. They are, however, part of the diverse tradition found within the European continent which has access to, and uses generally similar ingredients and methods. And as such, they are listed as examples.

You could have voted for "European" and described the great, and very distinct and entirely non-Russian, German cooking that your Oma, Mutter, and Schwester used to make back on the fabled Sabbate of your youth.

Or, you could have created a thread complaining about a supposed sleight to your great nation because it's associated geographically with another European country.

I am American ... but since I am of German descent (1/2 German-1/4 English-1/4 Irish), I too plan on boycotting this WBW. There should be more than 10 poll options, and Pennsylvania Dutch food should have been included as well. Good day.

Get over it Europe .... besides Italian, French and Britain's fish and chips ... you're all sausage, sauerkraut and wienerschnitzel
