why do video downloads from this site frequently stall out?? happens all the time with large files. I am currently on my 6th attempt at downloading one video over 120mb because all 5 prior attempts stalled out at anywhere from 45mb downloaded to 110mb. once it stalls it never resumes. and for some reason, unlike mpgs if you click cancel on the download and then try to download it again it doesnt start from where it left off, it starts all over again. what the fuck?

Ah, you've run into the special WBW throttle system: this system monitors the number of uploads and postings you've made, and adjusts the quality of download service you get based on that. Many posts + many uploads = speedy, reliable downloads; few posts + few uploads = slow or unreliable downloads; zero posts + zero uploads = downloads from hell.

That was a joke (just in case I wasn't being obvious enough). I haven't noticed any performance problems downloading videos recently - it seems quite reliable and reasonably zippy. Check your link, or that your ISP isn't throttling somewhere; if you connect via a proxy, make sure the proxy isn't overloaded and is properly-configured.

Now, grab yourself a coffee, sit back and just wait to get pilloried by everyone else.

make that 6 attempts now. last one stalled at 50mb/127mb.

and no, i don't think it's on my end. i download large files all the time and this doesnt happen with other sites.

if nobody is able to tell me why this happens can somebody at least explain why some cancelled downloads are saved in a cache allowing future attempts to pick up at the point you cancelled at and other downloads when cancelled are immediately deleted?

Never happend to me.. I will talk with the other developer about this and maybe we can think of something to help you fix it.

Did you try a download manager or another browser like firefox? Internet explorer has problems with downloading sometimes...

i noticed this problem with flashget

from what i can see
flashget downloads multiple parts of the file at the same time

usually 5 parts to be exact

the servers are more than likley seeing this as 5 seperate connections

try setting your accelerators file parts to 1

it may work....but....

flashget never ever works for me on WBW... not even with sponsorship
youll have to download them manually

That's weird, there is a problem with firefox v1.5 and flashgot, but I don't have any problems here.

I am using Firefox version 1.5, Flashgot 0.5.9.99, and Free Download Manager 1.7, and I have no problems downloading from WBW.

I have the same problem. This happens downoading anually through I.E. 6 and Friefox. I have tried using firefow with the download manager from Firefox and it does the same thing. I have been searching all over this site and cannot find any contact info/email to get with someone to help. What really aggrevates me is that my ISP has a bandwidth cap of 10 gb/ month. I am wasting a lot of bandwidth on downloading files that cannot be viewed. I tried to use a download manager on IE but it would download 22k and stop. Anybody that can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Well I apppreciate everyone posting to let me know that it works fine for them. I am sure that it does for most, or noone would post/download on this site at all. I can only assume that it would be something on my end with my ISP or some other configuration that is not optimized for downloading from this site. Thanks to all that are trying to help. I am realy anxious to get the big files downloaded.

bump. i can't begin to describe how annoying it is to have waited for 55mb of a 60mb file to have downloaded only for it to suddenly stop....and then try it over again 3 times with it stopping each time.

this happens with firefox and internet explorer. i am going to try a download manager now to see if that fixes anything.
