User Score really needs real good finetuning #2

why make the point system so strict? i mean some contributes in one some way or another. if people are active they are active...i know that i have contributed what i can with the time i have...being in college, you know that comes first.

I'm a senior at Wheeling Jesuit University and rarely has college ever come before anything for me or anyone I know. Hell, I had an exam yesterday but didn't study because I was writing an e-mail to WBW about writing reviews for the site. haha

I'm not dogging you for making school a priority though, don't get me wrong. It ought to be. It's expensive and affects your entire future. I'm just saying I never heard anyone say that.

I want to say something about the points and status thing. Personally, I upload pictures and post comments on the forums because I like this site and appreciate it a lot. I love the idea of forums where we can talk about the pics on the site... how many other times have you seen a pic on a site and just HAD to tell someone about it! This way that's really easy to do. This place is a community. I see a lot of you guys posting several times a day and that's awesome. But back to my point, I am active on this site because I want to be, not to get points or to have a status. After all, someone could upload a thousand pictures and never come back and they would be a demigod. But someone who only uploads a couple pictures because that's all he has but posts 10 times a day would be in the low ranks. The fact is, it doesn't matter what the status thing says. People who come here often know who is active and that's all that matters. I agree a better system would make it easier for new members to see where the rest of us stand, but other than that, we all know we contribute to making this site awesome, and even those in the demigod category are nothing compared to the crew of WBW who do all the hard work and make this site available to us. Perhaps I could donate my demigod status to someone who feels they need it to be complete.

DistraughtsSon has a damn good point... its not about status..u can tell who is active regardless of status.. although its good to help u keep an eye on whos EXTRA active *cough*DEMIGODS ..but again, everyones been talking about changing the system so ur not low ranking even if u just come here and chat ill be looking forward to that!

At the risk of posting something entirely selfish: I was a demigod for a brief while, before Diz changed it, and I had access to those HOT AMATEUR PORN PIX!!! I am now an eyelash from regaining the Demigod status after posting many pix, though I try to keep the quality up as well, (Average rating, 6.75 per pic, in line w/ most demigods (except Romeo Foxtrot, who appears to be uberhuman). DIz, if you change again just as I am on the cusp of Godhood. . . .

While I like the idea of "status"...

I personally like the idea that we can tell how well our pics are recieved. I feel that this is better feed back to me, on what the community appreciates- and what they don't like.

I also think that WHAT a person posts in the forums is just as important- as is how often they vote on pics, and overall general participation.

I guess I am trying to say- that weighting the scale towards numbers of pics posted, might not be the best method.

I know that certain people here , when they post a pic, its a damn good pic. And some just seem to flood the site, with below average pics (IMHO).

I'e rather see 10 pics rated a 9, then 20 pics rated a 5.

But that's just me.

(disclaimer- I'm not trying to piss anyone off, and this isn't directed at any one individual. (smiles))

question...what is the average of ALL the ratings of ALL the pictures on the site? that way we can compare our averages to something other than each other...

Why should you get handicap points for being a girl? It would seem logical to be quite the opposite. You have the built in advantage. It is us guys who have to work harder than you.

I think it's going to be like this:

(Picture x (AVR/2)) + (ForumMsg x 2) + (CommMsg x 1) + (Extra points) - (Penality points) = SCORE

I think it is a good thing for things you do wrong, for example: Using not nice words against somebody else, starting a flamewar, more of those things.. Have to think about it how to do this.. And i am thinking of making a system where users can give away points.. to other users..
