Uploading Problem

I'm new here and recently tried to upload a Zip file with 25 pics in it to the Babes Section. Evewrything seemed to go OK, but when I got the acknowledgment it said that 17 of them were not valid JPG files. They certainly looked like jpg files to me and all had the ".jpg" extension. So what was wrong and how can I fix it? I have lots more pics I want to upload, but I'd like to be sure they'll make it through. Incidentally I was using a Mac with Firefox as my browser.

Are you sure they are saved in .jpg format? They might be saved as .bmp, .gif, or .png among many others(those are the most common).

What else did it tell you.

ie How many in the database, how many in the queue, how many sucessfuly submitted?

They were definitely saved in .jpg. As for the rest, I don't recall the exact numbers, but one apparently was already in the database, and a few were in the queue. I think 4 were successfuly submitted. I guess I'll give it another try with different pics and see what happens.

The reason I asked was when I zip up a folder full of pics, I have at least one if not a few thumb.db files. These(at least in my case) are database files from Picasa2. You may want to move the pictures to another folder and then zip it up, as there could some hidden files in there.

I'm not sure if the archive being corrupt is an factor that could play into this.

I didn't have a zip file, just single pictures. Why do my pics disappear from the que?

Because they get moderated. You have three approved pics, if you have uploaded more than that they have not been approved. Probably because they are pro, bad quality, reposts or something like that.

Just tried uploading 25 more. This time 10 were accepted and 6 were again "not valid jpg files". The others were dupes I guess. Any way to tell which 6 they were so I can maybe figure out what's wrong with them?

Tried another set of 25. This time 5 were accepted and 20 were "not valid jpg files". Any answers?

Sorry, no idea what you can do. Have you tried to open them in Photoshop or some similar program and re-saved them? Might fix them...

This will probably be a pain in the ass to try, but why not upload them individually so you can see which files are "not in the proper format".

As you upload the files, when you get to one that you've already uploaded, it'll just say that it's in the moderate queue.

If you come accross one of the "wrong format" files, send it to me, and I'll look at it and see if I can tell you what's wrong.

Ok, I tried uploading about 8 pics individually. All were accepted (except one already in the database). So then I Zipped another 25 and tried theat. 22 were not accepted as being in the wrong format. Then I tried about 8 pics individually out of those. All were accepted, but 2 that were already in the queue. So it appears to have something to do with having them Zipped. I have a lot of pics I can post and it's easier to Zip them, but if that's the problem, I guess I'll have to do them one at a time.

It sounds to me like you're having a problem with the program you're zipping them with. I use winrar to zip mine up, and they go through fine.I have it set up to add files to the archive in the right click context menu. If you're using another program, try using winrar and see if that fixes the problem

Maybe you are making "rar" archives, not the "zip" ones?
