Upload successful, but nothing in queue...

I uploaded my first movie today and it seemed to work fine. After it completed, a little summary page said that it was uploaded successfully and that I currently had 1 item in the queue.

I then uploaded a second movie. At the end, it said the same thing -- that it was successful and that I had only 1 movie in the queue.

I then went to my Account summary page and it said that I had uploaded no movies and had none in the queue to be modded.

Am I missing something? It seems like they just went away.

I think that the movies were likely not accepted by a mod. Maybe they were already uploaded or violated the TOS. Just my guess.

Relax. It takes a while. Sometimes a long while.

From what I understand, it takes a while for something to be reviewed. I find it hard to believe that a mod saw and reviewed my two movies within 10 seconds of me uploading them.

It takes a while for what? For them to even show up as queued? I understand waiting for a mod to review them -- but shouldn't they go to queued status immediately, at least? Especially when it TELLS me that it is queued -- and then, a few seconds later, tells me that I have 0 queued.

In any case, if it really takes a while just to show up as "queued", then that's fine with me -- I just want to know is all.

Hmm.. There is no movie in queue of yours, what browser are you using?

No movies in your queue... try Firefox, check the summary page carefully after upload.

Ok -- just tried it again -- once from IE7 and twice from Firefox. None of them appear to have worked. When I did it with IE7 and Firefox just going to whatever server it picked, it appears to upload -- but the fill-bar flashes back and forth from 0 bytes to the actual number of bytes sent so far. In other words, it firsts shows 0 bytes sent, then 200k, then 0 again, then 450k, then 0 again, then 700k, and so on -- until the transfer is complete.

When I logged in specifically to Fefe, as someone suggested in another thread, and used Firefox -- the bar filled normally without flashing to 0 between each refresh.

In ALL cases, when it finally completed, I see that the summary actually says this:

Movies succesfully submitted: 0
Movies already in moderate queue: 1
Movies already in our database: 0
Files are not valid videos: 0

So, it says that I successfully submitted 0 - and that there is 1 in my queue. So, I'm not sure what is going on.

Also, just to try it, I tried submitting a movie that already existed. This time, the summary was:

Movies succesfully submitted: 0
Movies already in moderate queue: 0
Movies already in our database: 1
Files are not valid videos: 0

So, that one, at least, it knew was already in the DB.

Maybe the first summary that I got means that the file I am trying to upload is not in the DB yet, but is in someone ELSE'S moderate queue? I guess that might make sense. Is that it?

Thanks.

i think things worked fine before the new layout of this site. nothing seems to be the same no more since the makeover and i openly confess: I DONT LIKE IT!!! hate me for saying it but its the truth...

Ok -- that appeared to be it. Apparently, it was in someone ELSE'S queue already. It makes sense now, but wasn't obvious when I first saw the summary page. I was just interpretting that incorrectly.

I sent another and it went fine this time.

Also -- while I'm at it... Is it a big deal if we upload straight MPEG? They get re-encoded anyhow, correct? Some of my stuff is just MPEG and I don't have much machine power to convert to DivX or anything right now. So, if I just send them up as they are, that's no big deal, right?

Thanks.

We don't mind what format you upload, you don't need to cross convert.
