But we're making progress on the list, Blue. I've been watching. We're gaining on it. Two or three more taggers and we'll be catching up very quickly. We are already staying ahead of the curve though.

The percentage of tagged pics is going up almost ever day. Once it's caught up, it shouldn't be very hard to maintain at all. I realize that's a ways off of course, but we're headed the right direction.

The problem with adding more and more tags for objects is that you can go on for ever doing it and it effectively becomes too time consuming to moderate. Even with our current 250 approx tags we have it takes between 20 secs and 2 minutes to tag one pic ..... The more you add the longer it takes and the more you forget to add as well.
There will someone who wants a tag for anything under the sun.

Personally I think the current list is pretty extensive as it is and we should lock it down and leave it.
And yes there are probably a couple in there that we dont really need and could remove as well

Bah, I'm a perfectionist, so I'm never satisfied.

With the sheer number of pictures in our galleries, the more exhaustive the list, the better, IMO.

I tend to agree. Part of me wants to wait until we get more indexed and then go back through them. Another part of me says it's more efficient to start now with as much as we can, because it takes longer to find a "somewhat tagged" pic (of which there are a TON) and re-tag it completely than it does to just tag one completely the first time through.

Bear in mind that I think the number of tagged pics shown in the tag search means "pictures with at least 1 tag."

That doesn't mean the pics are actually tagged the way they should be. I see a ton of pics with just a few tags on them, and essentially (when I have the energy) I end up re-tagging the pic and getting all the missed tags. I know this cannot possibly be more efficient than doing it right the first time, though.

I guess what I'm saying is it's better to add to the list now and do one pic completely than to add to the list later and have to go back through the queue re-tagging pictures over and over. That's just not efficient, and we're talking 1 million plus pics here.

I tend to think that any tagging of a picture is better than no tagging of a picture, no matter how incomplete.

And as I type much faster than I click around a mouse and stuff, I typically spend like 20-30 seconds on a picture just typing in the tags that are appropriate and hitting enter.

I retag some that are lacking too, but, since we're only around 3% I don't get too tied up in being fully exhaustive with the tags.

Perhaps there could be a primary list, like the major ones we have.

And then there could be a secondary or tertiary list with the lesser used ones, that the perfectionists could use.

That way, the people that want to use them, can. And the people people that don't, don't have to have the list of primary tags cluttered up.

Ooh. I wonder when the last time the word tertiary has been used on WBW.

I know I've used it a few times, but not often.

Also, good suggestion. So obviously, we'll ignore it.
