the upload Q

I was just wondering how long does it take to allow a photo to post once its in the upload que? The reason I ask is I have had one showing in the que for so long that I dont even remember what it was i uploaded. lol. also when a photo has been uploaded and it isnt allowed to post why not something to maybe go into our inbox telling us the reason it wasnt allowed. just curious. thanks.

A few days to a couple of weeks.

Our pic mods are humans, not computers...and sending out a few thousand PMs a week would probably get tedious.

For example..about 40% of the pictures deleted, are obviously against the rules. Obvious pro models, urls on the pics..etc etc.

So yeah, while its a good idea, it's just a matter of the limits of what is humanly possible.

That's the thing, The fewer pictures in your queue, the longer it generally takes for them to get moderated, since they come up in the moderation queue in random order, so if you have 100 pics in your queue, the odds of a picture popping up might be 1 in 100, whereas if you have 1 picture in your queue, the odds of it coming up in the moderation queue are closer to 1 in 10,000 (That number will vary depending upon how many pictures are currently in the queue)

Also a lot of pics are deleted because their reposts. Mods that have been on WBW for a long time, in many instances , not always, spot a repost of a pic from months/years before (especially if they were a favorite of the mod when originally posted).

Would it be a reasonable request, that in the new version being developed, to allow the submitter to view his own queue of pics (similar to viewing their accepted pics) ?

I think the theory of being notified why a pic was rejected is good, but in reality it isn't. Sure, we could have it so when a mod rejects a pic, he or she could click a box of common reasons why and the system would auto send a pm to the member that uploaded it. That would work fairly well for members with a few pics in the queue, but not so good for members with lots of pics in the queue. First, they wouldn't know which pic got rejected, and second there could be days where they would get 50-100 PM's.

well thank you all for your input, the photo i had in question actually has been in there for several months. but thats no biggie. but i really like the idea that the mod have a box they can checkmark and no matter the reason it automatically rejects the photo. but with the way all systems are. it could possibly just put a very small photo icon of the rejected photo. as for me. i have not posted alot of photos due to the fact that i try to only post photos that i know wont be on here already. ok so the photos are either ones i have taken or were taken specificly for me from a friend.

and again i want to thank the mods for all of your posts and input if it says nothing to anyone else on this site it tells me that each of you are on your toes and are always willing to give information out to those of us not in the loop, no matter when we joined be it this week or 5 years ago. kudos to each of you.

Because, if I remember well, when some user posts a lot of content (series for example), pics mods can choose to review his uploads in particular. That explains why sometimes, lot's of news pics are from one member only.

I also bump the thread because I've got a question about the queue.
I'm used to wait until pics are moderated, that's not a problem. But today I uploaded 9 pics, 4 out of them were automatically rejected and 5 went to queue.

It's only been a few hours now and they're all already rejected. So, is there another automatic filter once the pics are in queue or some mod already reviewed them all by chance ?

It happened again (and seems to happen everytime I upload pics) so maybe a mod could explain me.

Here's what I notice when uploadings pics :
- pics are uploaded, sometimes some are automatically denied
- after only a few hours, I notice a massive drop in my queue number
- days pass and remaining pictures are reviewed by mods and accepted/denied

The part I don't understand is the second one (in bold). Is there another automatic system after the upload that filter the queued pics again ?
(For example, yesterday I uploaded 31 pics, 17 were not already in database. Now, there's only 3 remaining in queue, 0 accepted. Where did the 14 other went ? I don't think they already have been reviewed, that would be too quick).

The second one is the delete queue mods. Usually we are mods that have been modding pics for a few years or more that have a fair idea of whats already been uploaded over the last few years (we still aint going to know them all ) .... We also know who the repeat offenders are and who are the bulk uploaders etc ...
We have slightly more access to the queue and go through and get rid of as many reposts / pro / copyrighted etc as we can to help the rest of the pics mods not have to wade through so much crap all the time. We dont always see who the users are (but can if we need to) and get rid of hundreds of pics at a time sometimes (multiple users)

Also all pic mods have the ability to go through 1 by 1 each users queue and do it that way.

Any of these scenarios could of happened

Note : When you upload - don't be completely fooled by the system when it says "17 not in the database" .. That is only if it finds a direct match. If you change even 1 pixel or the filename it will accept it as not being in the database. It is not a picture recognition system at this time.

I was wondering that because this drop mostly happens only a few hours after upload and as I know there's loads of pics to review I didn't understand why mines got filtered so quickly.

Do all "recent uploads" get reviewed this quick by a senior picture mod or does that mean I'm considered a crappy uploader and that my pics need to be filtered asap to get rid of the "crap" ? That would surprise me as I'm always trying to fit with the requirements and avoid reposts.

Also, don't worry, I know the first automatic process isn't 100% reliable and that other pictures will get rejected later

My question is how come when i upload pics, and they are moderated and accepted, they dissappear out of my uploaded pics?
Even when i know for 100% they are not pro models, and are not reposts?

No, they do get looked through fairly quickly and can be a few minutes to a few hours to a day or two ... I just depends on when you upload them and when those mods are online

Maybe they were reported and deleted because of that. I go though a lot of pics when tagging them and the most common reasons are reposts and, sometimes, models / celebrities recognized on the picture.

Yes, this happens a lot. The moderator who accepted the picture might not know the particular model, but someone later points out that it's a pro model and therefore the picture is deleted. The same thing happens with reposts. It's just the nature of a system where any one person cannot possibly know every picture in our database or every picture of every professional model out there.

Hey jessc,
Im just curious but how do you know your pics aren't pro or reposts? Its not really something you can be 100% certain of unless you have taken them yourself.
If you have I'd suggest that you say so in the pics comment box when you submit them, it might well mean you get the benefit of any doubt there is.
