site speed

I'm not complaining because I know how costly bandwidth is and I'm sure this site uses plenty of it but with all the money that is spent with the sponsored members and money that is brought in from ads, can't the server be upgraded? Often I get server session timed out or connection timed out when just trying to visit the site. I use Mozilla Firefox and after I get session timed out it takes a good while before I'm able to get what I want (use netscape to get files if that happens).

I did a search on alexa for whatboyswant and came up with this:

I don't know how many sponsor member the site has but I must say that with this traffic - shit it must be really expensive to keep this site running.
May be the site owner should consider getting some revenue from banners or something.

Usually the site is rather fast, there has just been some issues as of late. Considering Diz-X and Inc don't get jack for profit, you really can't complain about it.

I imagine this site uses a good 150-200gb of bandwidth monthly.
Do you know if they server that it is on is owned by the person who owns the site too?

Its probably well over your estimate. And I'm pretty sure Diz-X owns the hardware.

Umm. Wow. SIte has suddenly exploded with speed. REAL fast!!

Durng nigh time (east coast) I notice the site runs pretty well, which is usually when I log on. During the afternoon hours though, it can be pretty slow.

i have never got this "session timed out" thingy nor have i ever had problems with speed

maybe it's the user and not the computer

This site uses 1500 gig a month at the moment. The site speed is slow because of slow database. I am working on new scripting and new database architecture to improve speed dramaticly!

So the "statistics" you gathered might not be really accurate....

I haven't seen any ads on this site, no profit from that. It's one of the reasons I enjoy this site so much. It seems as if very few people choose to become sponsor members (spam their way to demigod instead). I became a sponsor to help "support" the site, I doubt that any of it counts as "profit".

It is slowest from the USA in the early afternoon and very fast in the evening. I am in Calif. a 9 hour(maybe it is 8?) differance so by 6PM the Europeans are mostly sleeping, its 9:00PM on the east coast, and the internet is faster. BUT, on Sat. night when everyone stays up later I just usually avoid WBW.

What ads? At least here there aren't any!

Answer: become a sponsor member..... More income means more money to fund newer (faster) equipment. Trust me, Diz-X is working on it!

I have noticed that the site can be a little slow at times too, and I have to agree with most of the rest of you. We need more people to buy a sponsor membership. Took me about a day to make that decsion, and I haven't regreted it at all. Great effin' site Diz...

Site is fast at the moment Can't wait untill WBW v3... Have worked all saterday on the register and profile page, and finished it almost only the error thingies.. then that is finished I can go to the next thingie Work is going faster and faster, because I am getting used to new way of coding and designing.

Soon I will let some people start beta testing the site, I am adding along with the new coding and optimisation new features to it all.. I hope I could add a new layout too, but this will only be done when I have finished it. New layout is planned after v3
