Picture Gallaries Question

I'm probably asking a dumb qusestion, but what do the numbers in the left upper corner of the thump nails mean?

Not a dumb question I was wondering it myself,


Maybe the number of times downloaded?

I was thinking number of times voted but thats not it, and the number disappears when you view the picture.

I believe it is the number of comments the picture has received.

The number on the pic correlates with the number of comments, I didn't even think of that
