We hotlink a lot of pictures. No big deal as far as I'm concerned. But some sites frown upon this. Is it possible for a site owner to follow a hotlink back to WBW?

If I were to hotlink a pic from www.tits.com for example, would the owner be able to tell that it was hotlinked to here?

He can see from the server-logs from what ip has the picture been retreived.

But they mostly run their sites on a 'web hotel' and have no clue about the logs and so on themselves

The referer is given to other sites, If they don't want a link on wbw they should email me I'll add the site to the blacklist

Oh no, Diz. I'm not trying to blacklist anyone. I was just curious.

If you wanna hotlink some pics don't work, I guess the site doesn't want hotlinking, but if it works I think they don't have any problems with it! (I mean hotlinking and actualy see the pic)

it's very easy to disable hotlinking. WBW has a lot of script preventing hotlinking because of bandwidth issues..

Yes, they can trace it back to WBW.
I can trace any pic hotlinked from my site to the exact place it was hotlinked at.

Sounds scary!

If you've configured your web-server to gather up referer and other neat information, tracing is very easy. Referer is the main word to stop hotlinking. Apache mod_rewrite is the best way to do that.
