Hot linking images.

I just wondered if anyone can tell me why half the time i hot link images [IMG] i'm the only one that can see them! I spent lots of time last post [img] only to find out 2 hours later no-one can see them except me. I been having this problem for quite a while now, and did a pole some time ago about who could see an image i link and about 1 out of ten could see it!!

well, some sites don't allow you to hotlink images from their servers. so they just don't show basically. the reason you can still see them is because you have viewed the image on the original site, and it is in your cache. so when you view the page with the hotlink on wbw, it loads the image from your cache, not from the original site.

edit: to clear your cache,

firefox: tools/options/click 'clear' at the bottom beside 'cache.'
ie: (i think) tools/internet options/click 'delete files' in the middle of the box in the 'temporary internet files' section.

sorry yeah, i forgot about that because when i click on options it automatically opens up in the privacy tab.

firefox: tools/options/privacy tab/'clear' beside cache.

Meh, apparently ETV and I can almost always see the hotlinks

Ctrl+F5 also helps if ya dont wanna go through all of that, it forces your browser to completely flush and reload the current page.

try to use a proxy to hotlink your pics.......
