Having trouble seeing file attachments

I don't know if it's my computer or the site but I'm pretty sure it's from my end. Anyway I can look through a thread with file attachments and I can see them fine but if i go back through the same thread the pictures wont show, all i see is the file attachment box with a red X in all of them, I've even tried clicking that box to see if the picture would show but that does the same thing. Could someone please let me know what may be causing it, and how i could fix it. I'm running windows xp, I'm on AOL and using IE 6.0 for my browser.

Now along with the problem thats listed above, every couple of pages of a thread, i get signed out somehow, then i have to sign back in and then a couple more pages i get signed out.

Well it has happened the same way in multiple threads, thats why i was thinking it was something i needed to do with my computer.

Heres the link to one of the threads it was happening in, and even as I went back to it, it was the same way, all the file attachment posts were there but with red x's in place of pictures.

must be you...i see it all fine, you could start by not using IE and using Firefox..


hopefully kanzen or the other techy savvy guys see this...i dont know how to help you..

Well, do you think thats my problem cause i've been using IE for about 4 years now and never had a problem like this before, but ill try that and see if it works. What do you suggest if that doesnt work?

make sure noone has played around with your settings in your internet options

just check your IE options and click the advanced tab, make sure its allowing you to see pics..

did you upgrade it recently? maybe the security settings are too high???

Alright, thanks for the quick response and the help, i downloaded and installed Firefox and that fixed the problem, i can see them there but i still cant see them on AOL, I know for a fact no one has screwed around with my settings or anything like that cause im the only one that does that and I didnt do it, I didnt upgrade anything and nothing upgraded automatically, I'll check my settings and make sure its allowing me to see the pics, and the security settings.

Yes firefox runs alot better than the IE, and yes im working on getting the membership just low on cash right now.

I was just kidding around no big deal, i was being a smartass myself, well except for the membership part

Well ive tried everything suggested, and ive also re-installed AOL to see if that helped, and its still doing the same thing. Firefox works great but i use AOL for everything i do online. Its actually happened on a few other sites also. The only pictures not showing up are the file attachments, even when i click it to enlarge it, all i see is a box with a red X, the uploaded pics, and the hotlinked pics show fine along with everyone avatars. So im still trying to figure out whats going on. Any more suggestions besides getting rid of AOL is appreciated.

for your problems i would have said get Firefox... now that u did, check security options or firewalls they generally spook things up. otherwise try clearing ur cache & cookies... it never worked for me before but is always a good thing to do

also, if it was related to only this site i would suggest that when you log in you select the boxes saying remember username and log in automatically.

Yes I got Firefox and so far its been working pretty well, no freezing, all the pictures show up, plus its a whole lot faster. Ive checked the security settings and everything for IE, but nothing is working. I make it a habit to clear my cookies and temporary internet files atleast twice a week. Ive tried selecting the boxes to remember everything automatically but that doesnt work either. Thanks for the reponse Gigolo, I appreciate the help.
