Downloads

Hi,

Not really feedback more a cry for help from a newbie.
I've read the FAQs and loads of forum posts but can't find any that answer my problem.
When I try to download movies I regularly get "Internet explorer cannot download <movie name> from ...." "Operation timed out". Nice short movies are OK but anything large, even only 20MB can fail. Sometimes they work but the larger nearly always fail.

I've tried all sorts to get it to work including shutting down my firewall but it still fails.

Any ideas?

Have you tried another browser??? I would suggest using Firefox.

Tried firefox just now, same thing - goes along nicely for a while then stops. Tried it twice, once stopped at 15% second time 71% on one file. Tried other files and similar things happen so it's not file specific.

I presume it must be something at my end since no one else has a similar problem. I've checked disk space etc. I don't have a problem downloading these file sizes 'cause I work from home and transfer larger files for work.

have you updated all the codecs for your media player?

How about downloading large files from other sites, does that work ?

I tried again this morning. The site speed seemed fine but again the downloads stop.
I'm downloading to a file so I don't think codecs is an issuee but I believe I have the correct codecs installed as I can play other vids that I can download from here.
I can download similar file sizes from other sites, e.g. 30MB from Rapidshare, 400MB from a private site.
I thought it may be because my login times out, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
