Deleting Comments

This site , WBW,is a democracy.

How can we get rid of /monitor people that delete comments that disagree with their personal tastes?

i.e. Comment is deleted that is too complementary/too unflattering for their opinion and for no other reason.

It is more then normal that we monitor comments, and if comments are degrading or against our rules we will delete them. This is one of the terms you agreed on when registering. Of course we listen to our members, but everything has to be reasonable.

No, This site is not a Democracy
If you had read the Terms of Service agreement, or the rules (and had the capacity to understand them), you'd see that mods are empowered to remove inappropriate/distasteful/useless comments.

Considering your previous thread, your existing comments, your previously deleted comments, and your general lack of thoughtfulness, my suggestion is that you go back to lurking and return to the important business of recounting your fingers and toes every 2 minutes and recording any changes, or I'll come to your house and smash your Radio Shack beginners calculator to pieces

I don't think I have ever seen a comment too complementary get deleted

In terms of getting rid of the people that monitor/delete comments it aint going happen as they are usually the more senior mods on the site anyway.
Like i said in the last thread you made about exactly the same thing, normal members cant delete comments ... Only comment mods can.

If you stopped posting crap comments and comments stating the obvious - like stats - then they wouldn't get deleted.

Maybe, poor Rooborne has strained his poor eyes on all the car pictures and videos, and thinks that the site is WDW - What Democracy Wants - and he can post whatever jibberish he wants. I was thinking of starting a Forum thread called "Deleting Members", and discuss deleting members who do nothing but complain and whine, but then we might all be deleting each other, and we'd have no goofy Forum posts to read and make fun of! If you're going to post comments like "This picture has been rated a 10 132342 times" or some other shit, I can't blame them for deleting it. That is a worthless pointless comment. If anyone wanted to see the stats of a picture, they can click on the stats button.


If you don't want to have your comments deleted, post comments that have some meaning/value to them. Telling us how many times a picture has been viewed or voted on or something is a waste of space on our site.

Like any great democracy there are still rules and laws you must follow.

Along with this there is common sense and decency.

Now unfortuantly from time to time some bonehead loses his/or her fucking mind and posts something that must be edited/deleted by one of our fine Mods.

I would take the advice of others and go along with the form rules and enjoy the porn.

This has been one helluva start to 2009 here at the WBW. It must be Year of the Dumbass

I must have deleted probably 30 or so of these "statistic" comments from Rob, here, and I think the best solution is to go on moderating the comments according to the rules and just ignoring the nonsense. That works best for me.
