Credits

Been a member on here for a while now, and i remember the day i registered i went looking on the FAQ for some info about how the credits work, and i found out you get them for uploading videos and it said that itll be worked into that other sections of the site will allow you to earn credits...

So.. That was a few years ago now. And i know WBW has a great moderating team and always seem to be able to help if theres a problem on the forum, but whats up with the credit side of the site?
It'd make the whole WBW site alot more fun and interactive to use if the credit system was applied to more areas like if you uploaded an image, depending on how it was rated, the more credits you earned.

Id just like to know if anything is ever going to be done?

Adding credits to almost all functionality would do two things:

1. Promote an excessive uploading of duplicate, and or banned materials. We already have enough problems with people uploading stuff against the rules and duplicates. But as soon as they think "Hey I can upload more pics and get credits?" They are going to start reposting stuff like mad.

2. Increase WBW's bandwidth consumption and bandwidth bills without giving WBW suitable income to pay them off. We already push Terabytes a week and it costs WBW out of the ass. WBW would burn out of funds and would have to either shutdown or have a donation drive. Sponsor memberships number one feature is unlimited credits, once people can easily and effortlessly get credits WBW is out of its primary income.

Well this is basically a sort of softcore adult site.
Payment for registration is always an idea. I've been a sponsored member before, and i know i'd happily pay again.
It'd get rid of the people spamming up with the wrong images, and get the people who are willing to pay and be respectable on the site.

I dont mean this in a bad way, just suggestions and oppinons.

As I'm new here I imagine my opinion as it stands means nothing, but do you not think that by charging everyone to use the site, it will lose a lot of people who currently upload images, videos etc?

Anyones oppinon means something.

Well i think WBW is a pretty popular site, like Kanzen said theres alot of bandwidth used, and their paying alot of bills. I think a lot of people would pay to remain a member here, i couldn't imagine everyone just decided to go anywhere else, i mean, where else is there to go?.

It'd definatly help the WBW bills too.

Who are we charging to use the site? We haven't charged anyone to do anything. We offer people the ability to have a paid account which permits preferred services. Not a single part of this site requires payment. We just offer higher quality images and unlimited downloading rights.

I think he meant his sentence in question form Kanzen. Like asking what'd it do if everyone DID have to pay.

Yeah apologies if I wasn't clear, it's exactly how SpacemanSam88 says, it was a hypothetical 'what if' moment.

Oh, then ignore my irritation in the previous reply.

We did consider requiring a small donation or monthly fee (think less than $5 a month) to join the site. But it was quickly shot down after it was deemed to risky of a business move. Personally I thought it would of been a good way to stop the spammers dead in their tracks.

Maybe a petition could be made. I mean if members of a site are making a petition to pay to use the site i doubt it'd be stopped then, right?

Nice in theory, but the polls go mostly untouched by the majority of the WBW populace. I mean look at the poll, 2400 votes out of a 650,000 member base, we are not going to get an accurate idea of what is acceptable to the members.

I guess there's only one true way to find out! To ask another 'newbie' question, what do you mean by 'spammers'?

Yea, i guess so. I suppose the majority of members would prefer a free site then.
All there is left for me to do is become a sponsored member again then.

Spammers are nothing but pure slime. They are the people that come here, register a soon discarded account to try and advertise some sort of other site or lure users to click their referral links and make cash. They are truly the scum of the Earth.

Do you have it saved in the correct format, as in a jpeg?

Oh its ok, ive figured it out. Same problem as i had before. Might need to be put in an FAQ or something.

When i try upload it and the tag bit .jpg is in capitals, like; .JPG, which for some reason my image thing saves it to, it doesn't let you upload. So i just change it to .jpg in the upload box on wbw, and it uploads fine.
