how someone knows which picture is or is not copyrighted?

To my knowledge: Picture is copyrighted to the one who has taken the picture.

A picture is copyrighted if it wears a (C) sign ..

The image is copyrighted if it is marked with a URL or a logo and such. Professionaly taken pics can be copyrighted even if they are not marked. And these pictures are only allowed to be hotlinked to this site and not uploaded.

And the copyright of a picture belongs to the person who has taken it if it's not marked.

And if you are not sure, just ask the guys in here to tell you which ones are not good.
After a few pictures you will know.

Not legally .. It depends on the agreement between the person taking the picture and the person having her/his picture taken .. But never mind, that's just some legal BS .. From a WBW point of view, the picture shouldn't wear any (C) or URL

But, as mentioned before: Not all pictures that have been copyrighted have the ©. If you do not know whether the image is copyrighted or not.. It is best to upload the image(s) to a free-webhosting service, and hot-link to the image.
