I am working very hard on bettering the Babe Movie gallery. The current problem is that the webplayer doesn't always work correctly, low bandwidth is not supported and so there are many other small issues. My idea is to redesign the whole movie section and make it more future prove and less buggy as it is.

What am I working on:
- Drop DivX as primary video format and switch it for MP4 (h.264);
- Downloading in multiple movie formats: MP4 SD / MP4 FULL (if available)
- HTML5 player with support for WEBM and MP4 (h.264) with support for SD or HD (if available) playback
- Redesign of the player view;

Any suggestion are always welcome, I would love to have input on what you would love to see and maybe you got some ideas on how it should look or I am missing.

At present I use VLC media player which has served me well over the years. Is the redesign likely to effect use of this system?. I must say recently a lot of the bugs seem to have been ironed out. I can at last play movies without the stopping and interruptions.
I dislike the titles of recent movies in number form it seems a weird way of doing things. I must say generally I have been satisfied with the search features and cataloguing of the movies.I would be hard pressed to suggest improvement but I'm sure your efforts will be fruitful. Thanks for the hard work. The easy bit is watching the results.

Status update:
We are converting our videos in two phases:
1) Converting all movies from DivX to MP4 (H.264) - 26% completed.
2) Converting all movies in SD and HD (if source movie is high enough) resolution to WebM / MP4 (H.264)

This is why we are still holding the next patch from being to released;

phase 1: 36% converted.

As previously asked is the use of VLC likely to be a problem? or am I to use another system?

VLC comes with most (if not all) codecs as standard and should have no issues playing the files.

So it's 5 days for around 10% which is going to take around a month to complete and then comes phase 2.
Was it that important to change the whole video system so that we need to wait months before patching important stuff like currents bugs and moderation features ?
Or maybe we could have a separate patch while we are waiting for all the videos to be processed ?

suggestion: use all that processing power to mine for bitcoins

I'm sure you are working hard but I still have the problem of movies failing to complete when viewing them from the index. If I download them they are OK,but I would prefer it if I could watch first to decide whether to download. Any hope of this fault being eliminated?+

Working on this. Seems like some smaller movies didn't encode correctly to webm.
