As all of you maybe already know WhatBoysWant.com uses the Dutch date/time notation. I have had a lot of comments in the past because of the time/date notation not being correct for the country of witch you are based. As of this moment I am working on the the datetime functions of wbw and adding the possibility to change the date/time notation to your likings.

As of this moment I have added only 2 so far:
US -> HH:MM AM/PM Month/Days/Year
NL -> HH:MM Days-Month-Year

it looks a little funny with the mm/dd/year

would it be better if since the dutchie is set up like this... day-month-year

wouldnt it be more uniform if you did switch the month and the day around to fit US standards, but i dont like the /s, id rather have dashes

so instead US dates could be set up like this... month-day-year

so we have the dashes too?

You can edit the settings at "edit settings" and change it back to dutch date/time notation. but it's pretty easy to change it to - dashed standard.

maybe youre missing my point

i dont think you should use slashes ( / ) in the US time settings, it would nice if we had dashes ( - ) too, like the dutch time setting

If it matters, it would be easier to tell which time format is being used if one uses dashes and the other is slashes.

01-02-2008 = January 2nd for the US
01-02-2008 = February 1st for the Dutch

Oke... Before you know it we have to have a vote about the / or - ... As I said before, it is very easy for me to correct it. So what would it be?

1 in favor for / and 1 in favor for -

#3625492
I would go with the / ,

How about we just use one standard setting and everyone can just learn to deal with it, just my opinion, I mean its not that tough to get used to...

If it's either/or, then i go for (-)

Bloody yanks with their month first. It obviously goes small to large, day-month-year. Why rock the boat and confuse everyone

The Dutchies know a proper date format when they see one.

not just small to large.....but it sounds better saying the 1st of January, not January 1st

i dont care how its displayed, as long as its done to the Majority or international standards....the yanks can just deal with it

how about using the ISO standard? http://www.w3.org/QA/Tips/iso-date
this is an international site after all..

Personally, I prefer the ISO standard. What may make it easier for everyone, without worrying about order, is simply changing the month from numeric to alpha.

My reference to either or was either (-) or (/) rather than the actual format.
