TITLE: IMPORTANT! How to spot a spammer.
As of late there has been a rise in spammers posting on our boards. As a Crew member, I feel it is my duty to inform you on how to spot a real spammer. Spammers have only one goal in mind: to get you to click their links and make them cash. These people have no morals, no sense of justice, no common curtsey, not a single thing that would be deemed as human about them. They just want you to click on their links so they make cash off of you.
They have no other purpose to do anything. They don't plan on contributing, or participating on the boards. So without further delay here is how to spot a spammer.
---
01. They have generic or random names.
02. They have been a member as of just recently. Do not trust any poster whose only joined within the last month or so. Check their profile before you click on anything else.
03. They have under 50 posts. Usually a spammer won't make it past his/her first ten posts. Don't click on anything from someone who has posted a ton of links in one thread.
04. Is there a common ID or identification variable on the link? Such as id=, rid=, [blacklisted], or what appears to be some kind of common word.
05. The urls have a common pathname. A lot of sites are now moving to separate directories for referral members. In the example the tip off is the repeating number of "10192," but in reality it can be anything, it could be a random jumble of letters and numbers.
06. The poster has made similar threads in one or more subforums.
07. Do not click on links that have instructions on disabling your firewall, or anti-spyware, dialers, or popup blockers, or etc.
08. Check the status bar about the link. If the status bar says the link points to somewhere else than you were lead to believe; its spam.
---
People be conscious of what you are clicking on. Clicking on referrals only makes these assholes money and promotes them spamming on the boards. Remember to report all spammers immediately to the Crew. You can either send PMs or click Report Post. Doing so will make it easier for us to blacklist their shit and keep WBW clean.
If you really want to look. Just copy the link, remove the refferal identification and paste it into a new window or tab. Remember these asswipes, these wastes of space in the infinite universe, are here to ruin your fun.

Make sure that you turn off your popup blockers, firewall, antivirus, and use IE to view this page.
