no reason to be sorry for asking anything - if you read through the 1st camz topic, you'll
see similar questions answered there, but you're the first in this topic
my suggestion:
k-lite mega codec pack (google it)
it includes "media player classic" which i always use instead of wmp...
between mpc and vlc, you shouldn't have too many codec issues again
and, if you do find a vid that doesn't want to play, or should have sound but doesn't,
just use the "g-spot codec information" tool (also included in the mega pack)
to see exactly what codec you need (just drag and drop the problem movie file onto the g-spot gui)
select the "lots o' stuff" option when you install k-lite mega...and that's it.
also, for a free pack that has so many things in it, whoever puts it together
does a good job keeping it current, so update it every month or two.
