Mustangs are not necessarily better....just very different....Corvettes are true sports cars in every sense of the term.....Mustangs are muscle cars...which is to say they are different from sports cars like the Corvette, not better than nor worse than...just different....
BUT...a big block Sting Ray would blow th' doors off of any Mustang from that era....(1960's)
