Either she is the victim of torture, or, more likely, she's a "cutter".
I guess it's possible that she fell out of an airplane and into some briars that only cut her legs and spared her arms and face... But it's more likely she did it to herself, intentionally. If you are looking for "red flags", this would be a big one.
