Can i really make some money by doing webcam shows?

Pretty sure that if I just had $30,000 laying around, I wouldn't be spending it on cam girls. If you're that hard up for female companionship, get an escort or at least go to the strip club. If you're paying for a psuedo sexual relationship, you might as well at least get some sex out of it.

That was mentioned on one of the pages the OP linked to. Not all studios are pure evil. I know a couple of Romanian girls who are quite happy with the studio they work for, but, one that takes 60% of your earnings **is** evil!

With the exception of a few girls, I really don't see what a studio can give you that you can't do yourself. The vast majority of cam sites pay the girl 5 cents for every token they get, even a studio taking 1 cent of that 5 is 20% which is too much in my opinion, unless the girls simply can't cam from home and the studio gives her a place to do it.

Honestly, it becomes much more than a sexual experience. I don't know how to explain it, but it can turn into a genuine form of companionship for both member and model. Some guys who tip big like that are just very lonely, and some models are very introverted...and well, they form a relationship aided by the ease of the internet. I'm sure a sociology major could do a much better job of explaining it, but its a relationship that these guys could never have with an escort. Yeah, they could go out and try to find a girlfriend, but this is easier, its somewhat addictive, and I think in the back of some guys heads, they think its a possibility of meeting and dating their dream girl on a cam site....and it does happen.

I guess for some people it's the bee's knees but personally, I just don't get it. I see cam girls the same way I see strippers. Sure, they're attractive (the good ones) and I see nothing wrong with throwing a few bucks their way every now and then. (well, I'm not into cam sites but I tip strippers) but the truth is they're just doing their job. As long as you're feeding them dollars, they'll treat you like gold but once you're out of money, you're out of time. Maybe there's that one in a million customer who ends up getting close with the girl and they have a legit relationship but that's probably not going to ever happen for 99% of the dudes tipping their paychecks away. Honestly, it depends a little on the site. Some sites are set up better to communicate with the girl, so you can chat and get to know each other...as much as she (and to some extent you) are willing to share. I can honestly say I've met friends on cam sites...people that I talk to, skype with, text with on a regular basis. Other site are geared more towards the stripping aspect and you don't really get to know each other. I know girls on MFC that don't even get topless that do quite well, simply because they have a great personality and are willing to listen and be a friend. Sure...at the end of the day, it is a job, but sometimes the line between job and friends does get blurry.

SP, I don't know how to explain it either, and I don't even expect any cam site relationship to turn into a real life relationship.
On the most basic level, there are more options for enjoyment than there would be at a strip club...

I have no idea how many total cam girls there are in this world, but I'm sure most would starve if they had nothing else to rely on.... but damn, for the elite, I'm shocked at that kind of income. I'm equally shocked by the guys that pay for it. Oh well, to each their own, I reckon. I ain't gonna tell anyone else how to spend their money, any more than I want the gov't telling me how to spend mine... but I guess we'll save that for the other thread.

Cam girls are your friends, you neighbours, your co-workers, and maybe even your family. They're business women, moms, college students, and housewives. Its a safe and relatively easy way to make money from the comfort of your own home, and you are your own boss. I'm sure the majority of girls don't make a living off it if they were to live in the US, but many European and South American models do quite well because they get paid in US dollars. As for the other girls, if they work 5 days a week, they should be able to make at least $100 a day and more like $200, so its better pay than working a crappy part time job at McDonalds or The Gap.

It's the same for sports athletes (rock bands, etc.) here in the US. The odds of making it are extremely low but if you do world look out. I'm always amazed at the prices people will pay for an article of clothing officially endorsed with a sport's team logo or a player's name.

If you're shocked by what people pay for sports team attire, don't ever go into a high end designer store. You'd be amazed what people will spend on something just because it has a Gucci logo on it.

May I recommend Ambercutie's forums. There's lot of good threads (use the Search function) in the public space, and there's a model only subforum if you are already modelling somewhere. Also +1 what SP said in her first answer.
