Here's a fun* test: http://www.csmonitor.com/Science/2011/1209/Are-you-scientifically-literate-Take-our-quiz/Composing-about-78-percent-of-the-air-at-sea-level-what-is-the-most-common-gas-in-the-Earth-s-atmosphere

It's like 50 questions long, so it'll take like 10-15 minutes.

Then come back here and post your score.

If you dont:

*And by fun, I mean if you're kind of a nerdy type, like meeself. But everyone likes a good competition, even if it is a competition of semi-useful information that often has little daily use. I mean, how else would you explain the popularity of the TV show Jeopardy?

You answered 37 of 50 questions correctly for a total score of 74%.

But I misclicked on 1. So while I'll take 37, I'd suggest 38.

I got 44. That's ok, I guess, considering I have a degree in the sciences I was a little disappoint, because I made a couple dumb mistakes.

I also don't know my astronomy all that well.

42 out of 50. Half the misses were just not paying attention to the hints. Australia got me too Mall, as well as being an idiot and clicking Carbon when the damn hint said atomic number of 8.

You people too smart. About 50% of my correct answers were my awesome guessing skills. I feel I might be too stupid to be on WBW

Don't sweat it man. My score from the old "What's your sex score" was one of, if not the lowest published. It's all good.

One of my worst categories was astronomy despite me owning a backyard observatory and a lifetime stargazer.
Serves me right for taking this stupid test at 12:35 in the morning when I only got up to take a pee.
Back to bed.

Why is such a question intimidating ?

As I am typing this, 17 people have responded to the challenge, and 352 people have opened the thread.

Am I alone in feeling that there is some correlation between this thread and the unemployment rate ? Must be. Some of the companies that I work with have had openings for over a year but no qualified applicants to fill them. Sad.
