Thanks Fefe i totally agree with you. If this is how we talk to new ppl the site never grows and new ppl don't post. Better helps newbies and maybe they post more in the future.

PM's warnings are fine, but we all know some members are unaffected regardless of how many warnings and deleted posts they have.
Deleting the abusive posts is also fine, but those who saw it, will still be affected, whether they saw it and thought it's "OK" to abuse newbies, or whether they saw it and thought "Holy shit!... I'm never going to post at that site and subject myself to that kind of abuse."
I knew I'd probably get into trouble for what I posted, but sometimes I get really pissed off by these guys that repeatedly bully newbies and quote non-existent rules. All you have to do is search Rob's posts (or Tarquin... or Sails) in WTG to see that they don't go there to help, they go there to prey on newbies. Yeah it looks bad, and maybe it shows that I don't have the temperament to be a mod, but I think in certain cases when people continue to do the same thing, posting a public response will make them a lot less likely to do it again knowing that they might also get a black eye for publicly beating down a newbie.
3 suggestions:
1) For all the discussions we've had about this, we've never clearly defined a policy. Add a written rule against "newbie bashing" particurally when the bashing is based on nothing other than the member post count.
2) Don't display the number of posts, just the user rank.
3) Make posting rights assignable based on sub-forums and galleries.

I'm going to be honest, I had no idea this was here, and I never saw this thread...lol
I've warned Rob a few times through PM, he tends to just ignore it, but I would have definitely deleted that post, that shit is full on unnecessary. At one point I was deleting a few comments from Sails and Leon every single time I did my checkpoint.
I've also given Tarquin shit about it, people just don't care really, since they know the most I can really do is delete their post. Shit sucks to be honest...but, I don't know if it looks like it or not, but I do try to keep a cap on that kinda shit for the most part.
As you can see by this lengthy thread...and poll, most people just don't want to be mocked..

It's a shame, it seems like it's putting a bit of a dent into our new posters.
That's a good idea, but, even after I warn people, after awhile, they always come back to noob bashing, and that's after being warned by a moderator, I don't see a rule, which the majority of the members don't read anyway will make a difference. It wouldn't hurt though, I'm just saying. It's a good idea, but I'm not sure if it'll cure the problem.
Status is roughly the same thing as a post count, people would be mocked for having a low rank, it would be the same difference. Plus, I like my post count...members see that shit and can instantly tell, that if I were traveling by plane somewhere with my e-penis, it would be too large to be considered a "carry on item".
Good idea is good.

I suggested the ability to mute people in individual sub-forums a while back, as I've seen it done at other forums and thought it's a good way to prevent this type of stuff. Fefe thought it was a dumb idea. I felt stupid and dejected.

Yeah, pretty much all other forums I know of have that feature, and forum mods have access to it, just like the edit and delete button. This forum is the worst I've ever seen for limiting the powers of forum mods to very specific and compartmentalized functions to the point that about all a mod can really do is shake a limp dick in the general direction of the offender and "hope" he doesn't do it again.
