I say car racing simulation also sparked my interest in GTA and those are by far my favorite series so far due to Rockstar's humor and pushing the gaming envelope in sand-box play-worlds in 3D with real, licensed music... a step that was quite costly for the company, but they... Like I felt, worth it.


I grew up at the arcades spending thousands in quarters, but I feel I can't put those games at the top of my list any longer as technology grew. I moved to Apple ][, which I still have... Games like Broderbund's LodeRunner are still classic. Airheart by Dan Gorlin who created Choplifter, and don't forget Lord British's Ultima.
Driving games kinda debuted back then with Test Drive and then NFS, 85 to 95 span. Genesis coming next for a good many years, but I never invested in a proper PC graphics card, instead favoring PS2 for another major time frame stint.
Road Rash on 3DO and the original PS1 was a favorite for a good time.

Thats what is at the top of my head at the moment, in terms of "favourite games". As for games which i've spent most hours on, other's that come to mind are Champ/Football Manager series, C&C, Age of Empires, Americas Army, GTA 3, Dune RTS' (Amiga). Resident Evil & Half Life Series' also deserve special mention

1: Oblivion: Still playing it, still have not finished the main quest. Just soooo much to do.
2: Sim City 4: Not sure who else mentioned it, but damn it can waste days of your life.
3: City of Heroes: MMO - Sweet like crack.
4: Vice City: Over and over again I never get tired of killing hookers and old ladies.
5: Baldur's Gate 2
